Recently New York Republican Congressman Vito Fossella was busted for drunk driving. He was stopped not too long after he had been at The White House for the photo op with the President and the Super Bowl champion Giants.
Obviously this was a story that caught the attention of the voters in Fossella's district. It was also a prime example of bad timing since Fossella's running for reelection as a Republican in what is considered a Democratic region.
Well, it appears that Fossella's found a way to get voters to forget this event. On Thursday the married Congressman admitted that he's been in an affair with a woman and fathered a child. The woman is Laura Fay who is a retired Navy Air Force lieutenant colonel. Fay was also who Fossella called to spring him after his DUI arrest.
The initial reaction to the sum of these two revelations has been that Fossella should just forget about any chance of reelection and work on saving and repairing his family. I say that he can quickly turn these negatives into a huge positive.
Let's take inventory, shall we?
We have a drunk driving arrest, cheating on the wife and fathering a child out of wedlock. All Fossella has to do is become a Democrat. Given his recent actions and choices, not only would he be honored and cheered, he would get the Chairman seats on all the committees that he would want as a reward for his lifestyle choices.
