The Fox News Channel released a weekday schedule change that further demonstrates how they insist on being called a news channel while their content drifts more and more to the tabloid side of things.
Starting Monday, America's Pulse with E.D. Hill will give way to a new second hour of The Live Desk with Martha McCallum. She will be joined by Trace Gallagher as co-host. Gallagher has been a reporter and fill in host on Studio B and The Fox Report. McCallum came to Fox from CNBC where she was a B level talent who tried to pull a power play during contract talks and CNBC said, "The door's over there."
This change means a couple of things. First, E.D. Hill will be adrift in Fox News Land pending future assignment. This has become common at Fox News. Those with any respectable level of intelligent journalistic ability is buried a little, buried a little more and then booted. John Gibson was the most recent victim of this pattern.
The second point is that with The Live Desk getting twice the amount of time daily, that means viewers will get twice the amount of celebrity talk, American Idol humping, reality TV fawning, the latest happenings of the world's various royal families and of course the obligatory appearance by Geraldo Rivera which is mandatory if you're a Fox TV show.
Given the amount of time that The Fox News Channel gives to celebs in rehab, the latest diet fads, Southern California car chases, analysis by body language and issues of a similar significance if an American politician or world leader wants to get any face time they'll have to reveal they got into a threesome with Paris Hilton and Colin Farrell.

I love Fox News, but don't miss the morning shows while I'm at work. Morning TV tends to be childish and boring overall.
