Chris Christie's Praise For A Radical Muslim

Usually when we think about a Republican, we think about someone who believes in the focus and methods of the War On Terror. The ideas of unearthing threats to America and stopping them in the fastest most effective ways possible is a given.

One of Chris Christie's judicial nominees runs very counter to the Republican path.

Sohail Mohammed is an attorney who Christie has appointed to a New Jersey state Superior Court judgeship. An attorney poised to become a judge doesn't seem like much of a stretch. That is until you look at the track record of this particular attorney.

Mohammed worked as a defense attorney for a number of Muslims who were arrested after the 9-11 terrorism attacks due to their ties to terror organizations. A standout case from his defense efforts is his work to stop the deportation of Mohammed Qatanani, the imam of the Islamic Center Of Passaic County, who is also a member of the American Muslim Union. That organization has strong ties with and has raised money for the terrorist group Hamas. Qatanani has also stated that he has been an active member of Hamas and stands as a supporter of The Muslim Brotherhood.

It was during the deportation trial that then-U.S. Attorney Chris Christie got involved. Rather then make a phone call or write a letter of support, Christie spoke at Qatanani's mosque where he embraced him and called Qatanani, "a man of great good will."

Is that the kind of "unscripted moment" Christie believes Sarah Palin needs?

Why would Christie take steps like this which runs counter to his Mr. Law & Order image? Simple. He wanted to get elected Governor Of New Jersey and he believed that to do that he needed to bow to the state's sizable Islamic community.

Since Christie LOVES to talk about the things he's done, I'd LOVE to hear him spend even just five minutes trying to explain this one.
