Chris Christie's Endorsement Power

For whatever reason there are some people in the political world who believe that you need to know who they support so that you can make the wise (in their mind) decision and follow their lead. Some call that a political endorsement.

I call that arrogance and an insult to your intelligence as a voter.

Chris Christie has thrown his support behind Mitt Romney in the GOP race for the 2012 Presidential nomination.

Camp Romney welcomed this endorsement by Christie with open arms. (Yeah, wide open.) That has lead to talk about Christie leaving New Jersey in the rear view mirror and heading to Washington and the national stage as either Vice-President or Attorney General is Mitt Romney were to be elected President.

If I were Romney, I wouldn't count on a Christie endorsement as a driving force to push him across the finish line. Let's look at a couple of Christie's other endorsements.

Chris Christie Backs Delaware GOP Senate Candidate Mike Castle Over Tea Party Favorite Christine O'Donnell

The result? O'Donnell won the GOP nomination.

NJ Governor Chris Christie says Jets will whip Giants in battle of the Meadowlands

The final score? Giants 29 and the Jets 14.

As a sidenote, Christie has also strong armed most of the GOP in Trenton to jump through the Romney hoop and declare their support. Fortunately not all are blindly following this Christie Commandment. Assembly members Alison Littell McHose and Michael Patrick Carroll have yet to publicly endorse any of the GOP Presidential candidates.

However, Christie's endorsement of Mitt Romney does help clarify the question of just how dominant the RINO gene in Christie actually is.
